The Tecnica Phoenix 90 Air Shell ski boot
The air shell system is positioned between the liner and the shell and is made of two independent and inflatable fit zones. One zone customizes the heel fit and the other zone customizes the forefoot fit.
The 2010-2011 Tecnica Phoenix Air Shell boot features....
- Skier type- This boot is designed for intermediate to advanced skiers skiing the whole mountain.
- Boot width- Fits feet up to 102 mm wide in the forefoot.
- Boot flex- Flex range is adjustable from 80-90 with the lever on the rear. Great for personalization.
- The liner last- Based on the Tecnica high performance Dragon series but offers a little more volume in the forefoot, instep and lower leg while maintaining a secure heel hold in a performance fit.
- The Delta Force System- This system combines three components, each playing an important role in allowing the skier to adapt the power and rebound flex of the boot. 3D Construction, a modified hinge point and the device itself work together to provide
direct power transmission and a smooth progressive flex in two flex settings.
- The Device Hinge Point- This point has been moved forward and higher to be able to maximize the efficiency of the device. The device is a simple lever and internal barrel. A dual density elastomer on the barrel is not affected by temperature and offers a soft and stiff setting. A lower, ribbed rear spine works with the hinge point and device for a more progressive flex, better rebound and direct power
transmission.
- Rear spoiler- A Velcro rear spoiler allows you to easily adjust the spoiler for personalization. It can be moved to different positions, or removed altogether.
- A.V.S. (Anti-Vibration System)- The bi-injected design provides maximum shock absorption while also offering a non-slip function to the sole of the boot.
- The cuff- The cuff catches can be easily moved to fit varying leg shapes. The positioning catches have a range of 44mm: 22mm forward and 22mm back.
- Inner liner- The liners offer the latest in construction and materials to provide superior heel hold and foot envelopment with unequaled comfort. A new, higher tongue with a ribbed design offers better wrap and a more consistent flex.
- The air shell system- Positioned between the liner and the shell and is made of two independent and inflatable fit zones. One zone customizes the heel fit and the other zone customizes the forefoot fit. Both zones are adjusted with the push of the button to pump air into the liner. Too tight? Just push the release button. The air liner also traps air next to the foot to provide greater insulation and warmth.
- Buckles- The carbon steel buckles are extremely strong and thin offering a low profile for reduced breakage and better aerodynamics. Unique 1st buckle positioning offers better wrap and closure around the forefoot, while lifting the buckle away from the snow for less interference.
Our comments: The air fit system is not new to the industry. Many manufactures have used it over the years. But what is different is you have 4 fit zones. One left, one right. Both with a forefoot and a heel zone fit. This gives the boot a very comfortable fit.
