Sailboarding, aka Windsurfing Lesson
Whatever you call it, it's sailing across the water on an open craft and it's an exciting way to have fun on the water. Windsurfing isn't new. It's been around since the 70's and done all over the world. But like some sports, it requires some knowledge to learn. Not only do you have to know how to balance, you have to learn to control the wind, steer the board with the sail, lift the sail it out of the water, and how to go upwind. Going downwind is easy.
But learning to windsurf is like learning to snow ski. You must start on the easy slopes. And for your first few times windsurfing, you must have winds less than 10 mph. This makes it easier for you to learn. As you gain experience, and improve, you can go out in stronger winds when it's more challenging.
You want to learn how to sailboard correctly. Because once you're on the water, you need to be able to control your craft and return to where you started. It's why we recommend a beginner windsurfing lesson. And you must have a lesson and prove you can windsurf before you rent a sailboard from us. The 2 hour sailboard lesson is done by our most experienced sailboard instructor. The first hour is spent on shore explaining the wind, board components, and how they work together. Then you'll spend some time on a dryland simulator. Then the second hour you'll spend on the water hopefully doing what you were taught on shore.
Most catch on in the first lesson. But a few need two lessons. Remember, you're learning how to balance on the board, you're learning how to control the wind, and learning how to steer. There's a lot to learn at first, but once you catch on, it's fun to have the wind move you across the water.
A weekday 2 hour beginner sailboard lesson is $65, on the weekend it's $70.
