Care and Troubleshooting for Therm-IC Ski Boot Heater Batteries
If you have one of the older models of Therm-ic ski boot heater batteries, here are some things to do to keep your batteries working longer.
Therm IC Basic Battery Care
Everyday use:
- Turn the Powerpack off after each use.
- Turn the power on only when your feet are cold.
- Turn the Powerpack off when you go inside for a break or lunch.
- Long term storage (example- over the summer)
- Turn the power switch to off and remove the AA batteries from the control pack.
- Store the battery housing in a cool dry environment.
Therm-ic Max, Max+, SuperMax, and SuperMax+ battery care
SuperMax Manual
If your SuperMax is no longer working, consider replacing it with the Hotronics S4 boot heater.
Everyday use:
- Turn batteries off after each use.
- Fully charge the batteries prior to each use.
- Turn the power on only when your feet are cold.
- Turn your batteries off when you go inside for a break or lunch.
- Long term storage (example- over the summer)
- Always make sure the batteries are fully charged before storing them.
- Disconnect the batteries from the charger and heating insoles.
- Store in a cool, dry environment.
- If storing for longer than 6 months, repeat above steps every 6 months.
- If storing over the summer, we recommend charging in July.
Important things to know about Therm IC Batteries:
- The Max and SuperMax batteries will not work at peak performance during their first use or after prolong storage. 2-3 charging and discharging cycles are required to get them to full operating capacity.
- SuperMax chargers may turn off prematurely during the first charging cycle after prolong storage because the batteries will not yet be capable of being fully charged. In this case, disconnect the battery pack from the charger and reconnect it.
Therm-ic LiionPack, SmartPack 950, SmartPack 1200 and SmartPack 1600
Everyday use:
- Save battery life. Turn your batteries off when you go inside for a break or lunch.
- At end of day, turn your batteries off and FULLY RECHARGE after each use.
- Long term storage (example- over the summer)
- Turn the power on until the batteries have completely discharged.
- Then recharge the batteries halfway. (1/2 a charge takes approximately 1.5 hours)
- Make sure the batteries are turned off and disconnected from the charger and heating elements.
- Store your batteries in a cool, dry environment.
- If storing for longer than 6 months, repeat above steps every 6 months.
- If storing over the summer, we recommend charging on Memorial Day and Labor Day holidays.
If your SmartPack or LiionPack is no longer working, consider replacing it with the Therm-ic 1300 or 1700 boot heater.
Always refer to the owners manual for up to date care. Proper storage and care will only prolong the life of your batteries.
